Portrait Procedure
Commissioning a portrait painting is a significant undertaking.
A portrait will last for generations. I strive to create an heirloom quality portrait of the highest standard.
Painting a portrait is a collaboration between client and artist.
The first step is to establish a dialogue and determine the scope of the painting you desire. I will do my very best to accommodate both your vision and your budget.
Portrait fees start at R14 000. The price is based on the following criteria: the number of people or pets in the painting, how much of each subject is to be depicted, the size of the painting, the intricacy of clothing, jewellery and props. Please be aware that the subject must be prepared to come to my studio for either live sittings or for a reference photo session. The artist and the client will review the photos on a computer. Together they will make final selections to use as reference to create the portrait. A drawing will be presented to the client for approval. Upon approval the artist proceeds with the portrait.
Travel expenses, framing costs, shipping fees, are additional. A 40% non-refundable deposit is required when you sign the contract. When the completed portrait is delivered and it meets with your approval, the balance is due.
